Porsche 991.2 Carrera Base / S (without PSE) Cat Bypass Pipes

I have had the 991.2 Base (non PSE) bypass pipes (without cats) on the car now for 1500 miles, including two track days and a bunch of fast road miles. The pipes looked good when they arrived and fitted up perfectly first time without removing the rear bumper and without issue. The best tip I can give anyone asking their tech to install these (and assuming spacers are being fitted at the same time) is that they un-clip the O2 sensor wire hardness (lower clips only – up inside the engine bay – its a job done by feel from under the car), to allow the sensor wires more room to move when fitted to the ends of the spacers. Otherwise there is a bit of tension on teh wire leads – the sensor probe is now turned 90 degrees as its fitted into a spacer rather than direct into the pipe etc. The pipes immediately made more noise. Not too loud, certainly not an issue in terms of annoying the neighbors. Cold cycle is quite loud but settles down nicely after 30’s as usual. On the run the volume in the cabin is probably only 10-15% louder than stock. I did not get any cackling or popping on over run with these (my car does not have PSE and therefore not programmed to over fuel to create pops and bangs). my car is MT. Outside the car I should say we are probably talking 20% louder. If you want really noticeable volume increase I would remove the rear center muffler as well with a cross pipe etc. I didn’t want to go this loud. The biggest benefit of these bypass pipes for me – apart from the useful weight saving – was the improved torque. You can definately notice the difference after having these fitted (although I have now become conditioned and look forward instead to an ECU tune!). The car has more mid-range torque (according to my bum dyno), and pulls harder for longer. I would say these pipes have freed up some useful power. On the track the car is quicker too although its difficult to say by how much but it is able to muster more torque for corner exit. After 1500 miles the pipes have turned a nice golden colour. The rear centre muffler is definitely seeing more heat now the cats are gone and had turned a dark honey colour in places. This is as I expected having done exhaust mods on my 993 and 991 GT3 both of which saw a lot of track use. For the money and time to install (less than 2 hours) these really are a “no-brainer”. They sound better, save weight and make more power all round. Im very happy and would recommend them. I have posted afew pictures and will post some before and after videos soon. Thanks to Mike and the team at Soul Performance. Great product, nicely constructed (welds were excellent) and great value too.
